Power Query requires the MySQL ODBC connector to communicate with the MySQL database:

  1. Download the MySQL Connector/ODBC from the MySQL Downloads page.

  2. Install the appropriate version (32-bit or 64-bit) that matches your Power Query or Excel installation.

Step 3: Open Power Query

For Excel:

  1. Open Microsoft Excel.

  2. Navigate to the Data tab.

Step 4: Configure the Connection

  1. In the MySQL Database dialog:

    • Server: Enter the Seller Labs MySQL hostname (e.g., servername.data.sellerlabs.com).

    • Database: Enter the name of the database provided by Seller Labs.

  2. Advanced Options (Optional):

    • If you want to execute a custom SQL query, you can input it in the SQL Statement field.

  3. Click OK to proceed.

Step 5: Enter Credentials

  1. When prompted, enter your credentials:

    • Username: Enter your Seller Labs MySQL username.

    • Password: Enter your Seller Labs MySQL password.

  2. (Optional) Check Encrypt connection if Seller Labs requires SSL or encryption for connections.

  3. Click Connect.

Step 6: Select Data

  1. If the connection is successful, Power Query will display the available tables and schema from the Seller Labs MySQL database.

  2. Select the table(s) or fields you want to work with.

  3. Click Load to import the data or Transform Data to clean or shape it in Power Query Editor.

Step 7: Troubleshooting Tips

  • Connection Errors:

    • Verify the hostname, port, username, and password.

    • Ensure your machine has access to the Seller Labs MySQL server (check firewall and network settings).

  • Driver Issues:

    • Ensure the correct version of the MySQL ODBC connector is installed (32-bit or 64-bit, depending on your software).

By following these steps, you can successfully connect Seller Labs MySQL to Power Query and start analyzing your data in Excel or Power BI.
