Due to Amazon's data protection policies, third-party messaging tools like Feedback Genius are not allowed to store your customers' Personally Identifiable Data (PID) longer than 30 days.
Amazon considers these data points PID:
- Buyer Full Name
- Buyer First Name
- Recipient Name
- Shipping Address Line 1
- Shipping Address Line 2
- Shipping Phone
- Shipping City
What does this mean for your Feedback Genius messages?
✅If you are sending messages that reach the shopper within 30 days of their order, nothing will change. All message variables will populate as expected.
⚠️ If you are sending messages that reach the shopper more than 30 days after their order:
[[first-name]] will populate with the placeholder "Customer"
[[buyer-name]] will populate with the placeholder "Customer"
[[recipient-name]] will populate with the placeholder "Customer"
[[ship-address1]] will not populate with any content
[[ship-address2]] will not populate with any content
[[ship-city]] will not populate with any content
Again, this ONLY impacts messages that send more than 30 days after a customer's order. Variables in any messages within 30 days of an order will not be impacted.
This requirement from Amazon applies to any buyer-seller messaging tool, not just Feedback Genius.
What should you do if you send messages more than 30 days after an order?
We recommend either changing your message triggers to send within 30 days of an order, or simply don't use the variables listed above in messages > 30 days post order.
