Overview

The Negative Keywords tab in Ad Genius helps Amazon sellers optimize their advertising campaigns by excluding irrelevant or underperforming search terms. This tool allows for greater control over ad spend, improves click-through rates (CTR), and boosts return on ad spend (ROAS).

In this article, you'll learn how to navigate the tab, manage your negative keywords, and apply best practices to make your campaigns more efficient.

  6. Click Create.

You can also add negative keywords directly from the Search Terms Page, by selecting underperforming or irrelevant terms and applying them as negatives with just a few clicks. Please refer to these instructions!

βš™οΈ Managing Existing Negative Keywords

From the Actions menu (three dots next to a keyword) on each row, you can:

  • Change Match Type – Switch between Negative Phrase and Negative Exact.

  • Archive Keyword – Deactivate or remove the keyword.

You can also select multiple keywords using checkboxes and apply bulk actions from the Actions dropdown at the top left. At this time, you can only archive negative keywords in bulk.

πŸ“€ Export and Filter Options

  • Use the Search bar to filter keywords by term.

  • Click Export All as CSV to download your negative keyword list for review or documentation.

🧠 Best Practices

  • Review Regularly: Weekly or bi-weekly audits help avoid wasted spend.

  • Use Phrase Match Carefully: It may unintentionally block valuable searches if too broad.

  • Leverage Search Terms tab: Identify underperforming terms and convert them into negative keywords.

  • Avoid Overblocking: Check that high-performing variations aren’t being excluded by mistake.

Final Thoughts

Using the Negative Keywords tab effectively gives you tighter control over your ad campaigns and prevents budget loss from irrelevant traffic. With easy keyword management, flexible match types, and export capabilities, Ad Genius makes negative keyword optimization efficient and scalable.
